Bernadette McAliskey addressing the rally at the end of the 2013 Bloody Sunday March For Justice. The theme was ‘End Impunity’.

Despite a wet, wintery day around 3,500 people braved the elements to march in solidarity with the victims of Bloody Sunday and to highlight other injustices. The 2013 events gave specific focus to the miner’s strike in Britain (1984), the Hillsborough Stadium football disaster (Sheffield, England, 1989) and the scandal playing out with impunity in Rossport, Co Mayo (from 2001) where the local community are under occupation by Shell and the Garda. Meanwhile the common wealth of the Irish people is not just given to Shell for the taking but at the cost of the health and safety of the local population.
