Launch of a new mural based on Robert Ballagh’s ‘The Third of May After Goya, 1970’.

The launch of a new mural for the Bloody Sunday 2014 Programme of events. Based on Robert Ballagh’s ‘The Third of May After Goya’. The mural rendition of the painting is tweaked for its local context to include a cityscape of Derry and a Para insignia on the arm of one of the soldiers. It was painted by local artist-activists.

Eamonn McCann introduces Robert Ballagh to unveil and launch the new mural. The setting is poignant, the corner of Glenfada Park just feet from where Jim Wray, William McKinney, Gerard McKinney and Gerard Donaghy were shot and fatally wounded on Bloody Sunday.
