Written by Jimmy McGovern, Directed by Charles McDougall and Produced by local company Gaslight Productions this award winning drama-documentary film is based on detailed interviews with all of the families and is a powerful telling of the community story of Bloody Sunday.  Shot mostly in Derry the film features many of the relatives of the victims families playing their loved ones.

It was produced for Channel Four Television and first broadcast in 2002 .  A dramatised reconstruction of the events between 1968 and 1973, ‘Sunday’ is based entirely on fact, using British Government documents, interviews, eyewitness reports and court transcripts.  This gripping film examines the personal tragedies, the political context and the impact of the Widgery Inquiry that followed.”

Reviews:

“I found it lacerating, it was tragic, it was profound, it was analytic, everything came together…”   Tom Paulin on the BBC2 Newsnight Review

” I was deeply affected by it.  It was a remarkable experience… the film brought to life the events of that day in a remarkable way… I hope ‘Sunday’ gets the attention it deserves”  Bishop of Derry, Edward Daily
