This year’s commemorative march for justice will be virtual and global. We are inviting all those who support our cause and have their own struggle for justice to join the march and walk with us on Sunday. Then afterwards to post a selfie short video of youself ‘on the march’ that explains your issue and quest for justice. We have already had pledges of participation from groups around the world. From Derry to Dublin; from Palestine to Seattle; addressing issues from Black Lives Matter to Mother and Baby homes”
Fourteen such stories will lead this virtual march. A short film featuring those stories, will go live on this page at 3pm. The committee invites all who want to contribute to our call, to post a selfie video of yourself walking for a few minutes in solidarity for the quest for justice and highlighting the focus of yours.

This means that regardless of how the restrictions pertaining to arresting the spread of Covid, we will remain within them. There will be no need to leave your home to participate. We don’t want to contribute to any gathering that might aid the spread of Covid and worsen the devastation it is already causing.
Some may still choose to walk the route in a way that is safe at a time of their own choosing. We know that for many the annual march on the original route creates a space to reflect on that day 49 years ago. It had a global impact that has tragically connected this city with Amritsar in India (1919), Sharpeville in South Africa (1960), October 2000 in Palestine/Israel and Fallahjah in Iraq (2003) .
