In solidarity, the Bloody Sunday March Committee (BSMC) is honoured to host this important discussion and to offer a public platform to three leading activists in the struggle for a free and independent Palestine.
Each will speak from their own perspective, specific area of struggle and particular campaigns they are involved in on how in their view their work contributes to the overall goal and aim of establishing a free and independent Palestinian state.

Hazem Jamjoum, (BDS & Right Of Return Campaigner, Journalist and Academic).
Jacqueline Walker is a black, Jewish, anti-racist activist and campaigner. Twice suspended from the Labour Party, the ex Vice Chair of the Corbyn supporting group ‘Momentum’ continues to campaign for radical left politics, free speech, justice for Palestinians and for all oppressed people around the world. Her successful one woman show ‘The Lynching’ was brought to the Derry Playhouse last year. A documentary based on her story and the persecution of pro-Palestinian voices in the Labour Party is due for release in February. She is Chair of Labour Against the Witch Hunt and a member of Jews for Justice for Palestinians, Jewish Voice for Labour and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
Cathy Hutton, (Chairperson Derry Branch IPSC). The murderous assaults on Gaza in 2014 that was the spark for Cathy to become actively involved in Palestinian Solidarity. She first became a member of Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), got involved In local fundraising, lobbying politicians and active for Palestine on Social Media. Then in the spring of 2016 she visited Palestine. That was the catalyst for starting the Derry Branch. She was instrumental in getting Derry City & Strabane District Council to adopt a motion to support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, justice & equality & implement BDS to work towards achieving an Israeli apartheid free council area. The aim for 2019 is to keep raising awareness of BDS as the most effective means to ending Israel’s brutal colonisation of Palestine and to grow the branch locally.”
Chair: Jo Bird is a Labour/Co-op Councillor in Liverpool City Region, and a member of Jewish Voice for Labour. She lived in Derry until 2017 and co-founded Jewish Voice for Just Peace (Ireland).
